Yes, Final Cut Pro X (FCPX) does have a feature called "Retiming" that allows you to adjust the speed and timing of clips, similar to time remapping in other video editing software.

Here's how you can use the retiming feature in Final Cut Pro X:

Import Your Footage :

Start by importing your video clip into your Final Cut Pro X project.

Add the clips in the timeline you want to edit by dragging and dropping

Choose the clip you added on the time and open the Retime editor from Modify menu. There is a short cut too for the same and that is the keyboard key: Command + R.

Adjust the Speed:

In the Retime Editor, you'll see a graphical representation of your clip's speed over time. You can adjust the speed by:

Clicking and dragging the retiming handles at the beginning and end of the clip.
For speed, drag the speed slider
Manually entering a percentage value to set the desired speed.

Keyframes and Speed Points :

If you want to show speed variations then you must take help from key frames.
You can also add speed points by holding down the "Option" key and clicking in the Retime Editor. Speed????points allow for smoother transitions between speeds.

Variable Speed Changes :

Final Cut Pro X allows you to create variable speed changes by adjusting the speed handle directly in the Timeline. Simply select the clip, then drag the speed handle in the middle of the clip to slow down or speed up a portion of the clip.

Smooth and Hold Keyframes :
In the Retime Editor, you can choose between "Smooth" and "Hold" keyframes. Smooth keyframes create smooth speed transitions, while Hold keyframes create abrupt speed changes.

Optical Flow :
FCPX also offers an "Optical Flow" retiming option that uses advanced algorithms to create smooth slow-motion effects, especially for footage with high levels of motion.

Render :
After making retiming adjustments, you might need to render the clips to see the changes accurately in the timeline. Use the "Render All" button in the Retime Editor to render the adjustments.

Remember that retiming clips in Final Cut Pro X can add creative effects and help you achieve unique time manipulation in your videos. Join Final Cut Pro course in Rohini from ADMEC Multimedia Institute and start doing editing from scratch using this powerful software. You can also join various other video editing courses as well as post production courses offered by ADMEC.
